NAVIC is delighted to announce the appointment of Marais Thierzen, a distinguished former SAPS captain with over 24 years of law enforcement experience, as its new National Sales and Project Manager. Bringing a wealth of expertise in crime prevention and security technologies, Marais represents a strategic addition to NAVIC’s leadership team.
During his two decades with the South African Police Force, Marais distinguished himself as a specialist in combating serious and violent crimes. Rising quickly from constable to captain, he led specialised task teams targeting cash-in-transit robberies, vehicle crimes, and complex home invasion scenarios. He also served as a Commander at the Provincial Command Centre (War room), focusing on Vehicle Crime and Drugs.
Marais went on to spend a decade in the private sector honing his skills in project management, risk assessment, and strategic security solutions, further expanding his understanding of crime prevention techniques.
“More than his stellar career with SAPS, Marais has over 15 years’ experience in the strategic deployment of ANPR systems. He brings unique insights into how this tech can transform our security landscapes. His deep understanding of criminal behaviour patterns and technological experience perfectly positions him to drive NAVIC’s market expansion,” says André Snyman, NAVIC Director and head of sales. “Our teams are eager to work with Marais as NAVIC enters a period of accelerated national growth.”
Marais’ appointment signals NAVIC’s commitment to growing its national footprint. By combining technological expertise with real-world crime prevention experience, he aims to position the company as a leader in intelligent security technologies.
“South Africa has one of the most vibrant security ecosystems in the world. One of my key focuses will be around rejuvenating our reseller program and, through this, building stronger relationships with existing and potential partners to take advantage of the rapid growth in ANPR,” Marais explains. “This will require changing market perceptions, and I am excited about leveraging my industry insight to demonstrate how NAVIC’s vehicle intelligence can transform how public and private organisations combat crime.”
Please feel free to contact Marais to see how he can help your organisation tap into all the power of NAVIC’s vehicle intelligence.
