Members of the CapeNature Marine and Coast Anti-poaching unit promptly responded, leading to a pursuit. The chase ensued from Rooiels to the Strand side, where the vehicle was eventually halted. Despite the efforts, two out of the three suspects managed to evade capture, leaving only the driver inside the stopped vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle, authorities discovered 11 bags containing 299 shucked abalone (weighing 38.4kg, valued at R70,399.87) and 259 units of whole abalone (weighing 141.1kg, valued at R77,605). The detained suspect was apprehended, and a case was opened at Kleinmond SAPS.

In the Diep River area, a member of BH Security noticed a vehicle and its occupants behaving suspiciously. Upon consulting the NAVIC.Cloud platform, it was discovered that the vehicle was flagged as sought. When the BH member approached, the occupants hastily returned to the vehicle and fled. Additional BH vehicles joined the pursuit as the flagged vehicle headed towards Cape Town on the M3.

Unmarked responders also assisted in tracking the vehicle until it was intercepted by Claremont SAPS near UCT on the M3. The vehicle, along with its six occupants, was taken to Claremont SAPS for profiling. Concurrently, calls were made to various police stations, including Worcester and Somerset West.

Investigations revealed that the vehicle was initially involved in a truck hijacking in Worcester and later implicated in the abduction of an individual in Somerset West. The victim was held at gunpoint and forced to withdraw R20,000 from his bank account. Contact details obtained from the victim's workplace were provided to Claremont SAPS, facilitating follow-ups with SAPS Somerset West colleagues.

As of the report's writing, SAPS Claremont has confirmed that two occupants are positively linked to the abduction in Somerset West. Swiftly, the member accessed the NAVIC.Cloud platform to track the hijacked vehicle, which was identified entering the Kruisrivier area at 01:26am. The information was promptly relayed to SAPS Kwanubuhle, Uitenhage SAPS, and other relevant security units.

In a matter of minutes, all involved parties converged on the scene, conducting a thorough search of the area. The hijacked truck was swiftly located, with the perpetrators caught in the act of unloading its cargo of beer. By 02:25am, both the truck and its contents were recovered, and the suspects apprehended. Additionally, an illegal signal jammer was discovered and confiscated.
