A report was received regarding an attempted theft of a Toyota Fortuner outside a school in the Vanderbijlpark area. The suspected vehicle was flagged on the Navic.Cloud platform, along with suspects believed to be involved in multiple theft cases involving Toyota Hilux bakkies and Fortuners.

The suspect vehicle activated Navic.Cloud cameras near Three Rivers and later in the Waldrift area along the R82. Members quickly located the vehicle, noting altered plates, and initiated observation. As the pursuit continued onto the R59 North, backup was called for. Members trailed the vehicle until it exited onto the Henly offramp, heading into Valley Settlements. A coordinated and safe takedown was executed.

three suspects were found in possession of car theft tools, ECU, diagnostic computers, and various keys. Meyerton SAPS detained the suspects, and further profiling revealed that two of them had multiple arrests and convictions for vehicle theft.

The third suspect had rented the VW for use in the commission of the crime. An attempted theft case was registered in Vanderbijlpark, and ongoing investigations aim to connect these suspects to additional cases in the Vanderbijlpark area.

Congratulations from the #Navic team to all the members involved who covered a vast area and contributed to the success of this operation—a truly commendable team effort – and a real blow to the growing scourge of targeted vehicle theft.
