On November 7, 2023, a vehicle flagged as stolen on Navic.Cloud activated cameras in Nyanga, Western Cape. The subsequent alert was promptly shared with all pertinent groups.

Members of the Western Cape Flying Squad successfully traced the Toyota Tazz to Nyanga, Cape Town, after it had been reported stolen in Paarl. Both the vehicle and the suspect were escorted to Nyanga SAPS for further processing, proving yet again that committed law enforcement, empowered with reliable intelligence, can make a dent in vehicle theft.

BIG ABALONE HAUL INTERCEPTED IN GANSBAAI
📍Gansbaai, Western Cape | 2023/11/11

On November 11, 2023, a vehicle connected to the illicit transportation of abalone activated Navic.Cloud cameras near the R43 Pass Grootbos. An alert was quickly shared with all relevant groups for immediate action.

Rapid response from members of Overstrand Law Enforcement saw the vehicle stopped on the R43 Pass Grootbos. Although the driver had fled on foot, members searched the vehicle, uncovering 4,204 units of illegal abalone. The vehicle was subsequently transported to Gansbaai SAPS for further processing.

Our thanks to the Overstrand officers for helping us keep our streets and oceans safe.

On November 3, 2023, a vehicle associated with potential drug dealing activated Navic.Cloud cameras in Table View. The alert was quickly shared with all pertinent groups for immediate action.

A rapid response from members of Star Alarms and Core Tactical successfully intercepted the vehicle in Marine Circle, Table View. When the vehicle was searched, two bags of cocaine were discovered, leading to the detention of the suspect - once again proving that combined efforts based on credible intelligence can make a difference in our fight against drugs.

NO SUBSTITUTE FOR EXPERIENCE - R370K WORTH OF ABALONE SEIZED
📍Cape St. Francis Bay, Eastern Cape

Two vehicles suspected of involvement in abalone poaching in Cape St. Francis Bay were placed under surveillance on Navic.Cloud. Using the Navic.Cloud system, unit members successfully intercepted and searched these vehicles.

Although the initial vehicle search revealed only diving equipment, members followed their instincts and extended the search to the diving spot. This led to the discovery of two waist bags containing a total of 68 shelled abalone and 131 de-shelled abalone units. The confiscated abalone has an estimated street value of R376,200.00.

THIRD MIDVAAL ARREST IN A WEEK IN COMBINED TAKEDOWN

The Navic.Cloud system flagged an attempted motor vehicle theft involving a Fortuna in Parys, providing details on the suspects' silver Toyota Yaris, including its description and registration. Navic.Cloud cameras in the area were activated by the vehicle, and an alert was shared with relevant groups.

Members of law enforcement spotted the vehicle travelling through De Deur along the R82. Backup units quickly responded, executing a tactical takedown with no injuries. Four suspects were apprehended, and a search revealed the possession of a jammer and various car theft tools. Notably, the suspects' vehicle was equipped with cloned number plates. Video footage from Parys confirmed the identity of the suspects and their vehicle.

The suspects and evidence were processed at De Deur SAPS for further investigations. This marks the third arrest in the past week of a crew involved in vehicle thefts in the Vaal and Midvaal areas.

REMOVING CRIMINALS FROM OUR COMMUNITY A TEAM EFFORT

Thanks to the effectiveness of the Navic.Cloud platform, three more criminals have been successfully taken off our streets. In response to a Navic.Cloud alert signalling a potentially sought-after vehicle, members of the De Deur CPF jumped into action.

They successfully located the vehicle and positively identified it. Upon further investigation, the three occupants were found to be linked to an ongoing SAPS Sandringham case. The suspects have been apprehended, with one of them identified as a repeat offender.

This incident highlights once again the power of data-driven crime prevention, made possible by the swift response of the De Deur CPF and the valuable intelligence provided by the #Navic team.
